West Tanfield (26/27 Sept)

just received this email from the organisers...

Hi there.

The committee of the West Yorkshire Canoe Club would like to formally invite you and your club to the West Tanfield 3/4 Slalom nr Ripon on the 26th & 27th September.

Please find attached information regarding our slalom (which includes camping fees, site info, etc) and a poster. Could you please distribute the poster to members of your club and recommend they attend.

We are proud to say that this slalom is one of the busiest on the calendar and would like your help to make a good impression on new land owners at the site.

If you or members of your club are attending and would like to take part in the TopoDuo event could you please bring a club topo if available due to a limited number of these boats. If you could bring one would you please make it available for other clubs (under goodwill)

This is a massive race for divisions 3 and 4, and with a Saturday night hog roast, it's a proper social event. I'm giong to be sending my entries off this on Tuesday, so if you want to come and want to enter before the day to save the late fee and a massive cued, then get yourself to training on Tuesday and I'll have some entry cards.

I may be able to offer lifts, but not sure what the issue with the family magnet is, so will hopefully be able to sort something out on Monday or Tuesday.

what have you done to the family magnet

the heater matrix has gone, so all of the coolant has leaked into the car which might have a adetrimental effect to th electrics. I hope that it hasn't and we're good to go, but the chances are fairly high!

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO not the family magnet!!!

Right, I'm bringing cards tonight to training so that people can get themselves entered to the second best 3/4 event of the year (it's obviously not going to be as good as the BIG abbey race in the summer!), but still will be fpretty good!

Have a think if you want to have a go in C1, C2 and who with, Topo (K2), judge, or just enjoy yourself and support.

The A-team are playing in Leeds on Saturday afternoon if anyone wants to come and support, so this might affect the categories you enter for saturday.

Right as far as travel arrangements go, I'll be taking a C2 and a selection of plastic boats, scott will be taking the other C2, Tonksie will be taking a C1 and 2 club kayaks, Pattie is getting a topo for the sunday. Mark, can you bring the othe club c1 just in case. Andy, can you get the bumper canoe kit for me and Darren? Thank you!

In terms of arrival time, we'll be getting there on Friday Night at about 6ish. If you want to arrive on Saturday, I'd aim to get there before 9 as it is going to be a very busy event and late entries might be an issue. (well done those of you who have given me cards already, even better from those who have given me teh cash (Brandon and the twins!). If you are wanting to go for just the Sunday, try to let someone know before the weekend and so that you can be pre entered so that you don't travel all of teh way there to find out it's full...

We will be there from Sat evening for the Sunday - hope we will still be able to get Div 4 entries then. We will be bringing a C1 for Zac which others are welcome to use.
